Late last year, I spent a month travelling in the US and Canada. It’s starting to seem like a distant memory, but looking back at the photos, I’m struck by how much the trip changed me and by the emotions and memories stirred up by some of the images. I know more than just my photographic style changed and grew while I was away, but they offer potent symbols: the way the colour palette changes as I travel; the increased abstraction as I became more comfortable with the story I was telling; and the way the cities themselves have blended their way into my consciousness.
These images are from San Francisco. I’ll post Vancouver, New York and Washington over the next few weeks.
